Rebecca Marshall gained her degree in Fine Art from Newcastle University in 2012. As the daughter of a farmer Rebecca has spent her life in the countryside. Having always painted, at the age of 18 she began to paint the land and animals around her and began taking on commissions. Since then she has completed a variety of requests, including pets, people, landscapes, wall murals and even boudoir paintings....

"I believe the commission work I do is vital for keeping my eye in as an artist; it's also great to be challenged with new requests on a regular basis."

Whilst studying, Rebecca became passionate about contemporary art and specialised in mixed media installations. She continues her personal practice alongside her commission work, and hopes to have her second solo exhibition in 2017. Rebecca's personal practice looks at the themes of nature, religion and philosophy. The work is visceral and utilises mediums such as sound, video and sculpture to appeal to everybody on a basic level.

"It felt right to make work that was universal - I didn't want normal 9 to 5 people to be alienated by it, it needed to be human."

Rebecca currently lives in Southampton.
